We are currently seeking an energetic and experienced Technology Technician, to provide the highest standard of technical support and day to day assistance to our busy Design and Food Technology team.
The role is integral to the effective operation of the faculty and will entail support in the popular subject areas of resistant materials, product design and food technology. You will be required to prepare for practical lessons, support teaching staff and students across all key stages with the use of all machinery including ovens, cooking facilities, saws, drills and also use of laser cutters.
This hands-on role will provide you with an opportunity to showcase your creative flair and pass on your skills and expertise to young students; providing them with the tools to help fulfil their career ambitions in catering, engineering or design.
You will prepare materials, machinery, equipment, components, resources, tools and fixtures for focused demonstrations, and ensure that all tools are available and in good, safe condition. You will also be responsible for ensuring the maintenance of the machines is up to date and ensure that Health and Safety requirements are met under the direction of the school.
What we are looking for:
- Excellent, relevant technical skills, and experience of working with a range of Technology equipment and resources
- The ability to encourage and inspire young people to achieve, and an understanding of the importance of students achieving their full potential
- The ability to work with initiative and commitment, under general guidance of the subject teacher.
- Relevant and current health and safety training and qualifications.
- A background in construction, engineering, electronics and/or “design & make” would be an advantage. Knowledge and experience of the range of machinery usually found in school workshops would be preferable.
- A customer focused, organised approach.
