We have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and experienced Training Consultant to join our Community Transformation Programme team.

This role will be responsible for researching, sourcing, co-designing/co-developing, and facilitating training, learning and development sessions for staff across the Birmingham and Solihull (BSol) Community Mental Health and Wellbeing Service, under the BSol Community Mental Health Transformation Programme.

We are looking for someone who has an excellent track record in co-designing and facilitating training to various staff groups, meeting training needs and supporting the learning and development of staff groups.

Main duties of the job

The role will include sourcing relevant training, as well as supporting the co-design, co-development and facilitation/co-facilitation of a number of training courses for staff members, linking in with Trust-wide learning and development opportunities and programmes.

The training will support the learning and development of colleagues across the Community Mental Health and Wellbeing Service, ensuring adequate and appropriate baseline training levels for staff, with a strong focus on trauma-informed, service user-focused training, underpinned by equality, diversity and inclusion principles.

The role includes both sourcing and facilitating training, as well as keeping accurate records of training requirements and achievements across staff teams, and liaising with relevant colleagues to ensure a robust, comprehensive training offer to staff teams.

Person specification

Essential & Desirable

Essential criteria
  • Masters/postgraduate diploma or equivalent knowledge and skills gained through any combination of alternative study or employment in learning and development field
  • PTTLS or Post Graduate Certificate in Education
  • Substantial experience in management/training role within learning and development field
  • Proven ability to design and delivery training programmes to all levels of staff and ensure robust evaluation/review
  • Sound knowledge and experience of range of training and development methods and theories to deliver blended learning
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of Equality, Diversity & Inclusion, including challenges faced by underserved / underrepresented communities
  • Excellent and proven interpersonal, negotiating and influencing skills with all levels of staff both internally and externally
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of co-designing, co-producing and co-facilitating training sessions with people with lived experience of mental illness
  • Understanding of relevant courses – including Trauma-informed approaches, Solution-Focused training, Motivational Interviewing training
  • Experience of working in a clinical setting

Please note, if applicable for your role you will be required to cover the cost of your DBS certificate. This will be deducted from your salary over 3 months. You will also be required to sign up to the DBS Update Service before commencement with the Trust.

All successful applicants will be required to complete the Trust’s induction programme. The Fundamental (Statutory and Mandatory) training will be in an e-learning format. You will be required to complete training modules online (approx. 9-14 hours depending on post) by the end of your first week with us.
