What exactly will you be doing?

As the Senior Manager Quality and Standardisation (QS) your role sits within the Products and Services team and reports to the Product Director (Awarding Organisation). You will lead the team as a Centre of Excellence on the quality and standardisation of assessments and qualification outcomes within AAT.
The Senior Manager (QS) will be responsible for the leadership of Chief Examiners and Independent Assessors to deliver valid and consistent results for our learners aligned to quality standards that meet customer experience as well as regulation and best practice.

This will include the maintenance of standards over time, the recruitment, training and standardisation of examiners and independent assessors and the publication of pass rates and Chief Examiner reports. The Senior Manager (QS) will also drive for continuous improvement within AAT’s assessment process.

As an experienced education professional with knowledge of managing assessment standards over time, and with a strong understanding of the regulatory environment and expectations, you will lead a team that will ensure the quality and standards of AAT’s assessments.
Working closely with the Compliance team and the Awarding Organisation leadership you will lead on assessment performance, regulatory reporting as required and key contact in relation to internal audit and risk management related to assessments.

You will also be responsible for monitoring the quality of assessments linked to other products particularly those aligned to membership.

Major objectives

Be responsible for evaluating the performance and validity of AAT assessments and recommending remedial action where appropriate.
Manage the technical standardisation of live assessment to time, budget and quality.
Project manage the process of assessment standardisation, including liaison with chief examiners as needed.
Analyse data and make evidence-based, actionable decisions to optimise assessment performance.
Design, implement and work to agreed policies and procedures including appropriate sign-off.
Recruit, train and manage the Chief Examiner teams.

Create a culture of commercial awareness and professionalism within the team, focusing on outcomes, maximising efficiency and effectiveness, working collaboratively and actively demonstrating AAT’s behaviours.

What are we looking for?

Experience in designing and implementing assessment mark schemes, standardisation and awarding of assessments in compliance with regulation and industry standards.
Knowledge of professional bodies and Awarding organisations and/or the accountancy profession.
Knowledge of vocational education and qualifications.
Project and financial management skills.

Briefing, leading and managing multiple projects.
