We are recruiting nurses with Emergency department experience who want to further their career in a fast paced, lively and renowned department.
We are avid supporters of our whole nursing team and recognise the contribution, motivation and competencies that our Band 6 team bring to every shift.
We also support individuals to improve and develop their leadership and management skills, encouraging them to be fully rounded nurses who bring a large range of skills to our patients’ bedsides from a broad portfolio of experience.
We encourage internal rotations based solely on individual aspirations as well as supporting staff through every step of their emergency care career pathway.
We see the importance in providing the highest standard of care to our patients and therefore encourage our team to take up the opportunities of learning advanced skills, completing the Advanced Life Support course, as well as the Trauma Nursing Core course and our Emergency Capital Nurse course accredited by King’s College London.
Successful candidates will have the opportunity to work in all areas of the department, supported by the band 7 team.
Clinical Responsibilities- Carry out planned care for a group of patients without supervision
- Ensure the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of evidence based, individualised patient care
- Assist and advise staff, both registered and unregistered in the delivery of patient care
- Maintain accurate clinical observations of the patient and act accordingly.
- Plan, organise and deploy staff according to ability and workload in order to meet patient needs. Manage effective flows of patients within Emergency Services to meet NHS targets
- Communicate effectively at all times and maintain a harmonious working environment
- Demonstrate an awareness of the economical use of resources and contribute to the overall control of the ward or departmental budge
- Assess the needs of patients, relatives and carers and provide them with information as requested
- Assist in the teaching and development of nursing assistants, students and junior staff, helping them to achieve their learning outcomes
- Act as a role model and mentor to nursing assistants, pre-registration students nurses undertaking supervised practice and return to nursing programmes, and junior nurse
- To keep up to date with current developments in nursing and ensure evidence based practice
