Main duties of the job
To act as a professional member of a multi-disciplinary team and be responsible for implementing Trust-wide, all engineering infrastructure capital projects, energy and environmental management, building management controls and engineering IT network.
Post holder will report directly to the Estates Infrastructure Manager. Developing working relationships with operational and capital projects colleagues on all Trust sites and other directorate heads of service. Close liaison with the Head of Estates (HoE), Estates Manager, Energy manager and other operational heads of service, RFH/UCL Medical School, Consultants, Anthony Nolan Trust, Middlesex University, Camden & Islington MHT, Camden PCT.Utility suppliers, gas, electric and water regarding engineering infrastructure needs. The post holder is required to be part of on-call rota system.
The post holder will possess the necessary training, experience and qualifications to operate the Trusts safe systems of work as an authorised person in three of the following disciplines:
- Low voltage systems
- High voltage systems
- Medical Gas Pipeline systems
- Pressure systems
- Ventilation services
The post holder will implement engineering capital infrastructure projects on all sites in accordance with trust’s planned Plant Replacement programme, statutory obligations, Codes of Practice and Department of Health Guidelines.

Qualifications
Essential criteria- HNC or higher in Engineering
- Corporate Member of recognised professional organisation, Chartered Engineer (CEng), Surveyor (RICS) or Architect (RIBA)
- MBA in Business Management
Experience
Essential criteria- Significant experience at a senior level in building services management
- Experience in the management of a high quality, responsive and cost effective estates service with specific customer focus
- Energy management and policy development
Aptitudes and Skills
Essential criteria- Effective management of people in a large organisation.
- Project management skills
- The ability to work to agreed deadlines and budgets
- Authorised person LV and HV,
- Financial analysis and management skills
- Ability to motivate staff and delegate responsibility whilst retaining accountability

- Must be able to communicate effectively with staff at all levels in the organisation
- Must be computer literate
- Negotiating skills geared to both long and short term objectives
- CAD, able to produce engineering schematic diagrams and manage infrastructure drawings
- A knowledge of the NHS, its structures and objectives and their application within the Trust
