Job Description

As the Senior Financial Accountant you will be responsible for:

Lead the year end process and ensure audit is successful, along with managing a small team

To be the accounting lead for a major area of technical financial accounting complexity (e.g. capital finance, collection fund etc.) and to co-ordinate complex corporate financial processes for the authority.

To draft financial implications for formal committee reports, up to and including for Cabinet and to brief senior managers and Directors accordingly.

To advise on and maintain appropriate financial controls and to challenge senior managers as necessary in this regard.

The Successful Applicant

The Senior Financial Accountant will hold a full accounting qualification (CIPFA,ACA,ACCA,or CIMA) and has undertaken a similar role previously withing a local authority setting. Have knowledge of Capital and VAT arrangements and be available on a short notice and are comfortable being on site 2-3 days a week.
