Financial Accountant (Year End) - Hays

This role is crucial in maintaining the integrity of our financial statements and supporting the overall financial health of the department.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review and analyse year-end financial collection packs submitted by ALBs.
• Ensure compliance with government accounting standards and regulations.
• Prepare and consolidate financial statements for year-end reporting.
• Identify and resolve discrepancies in financial data.
• Collaborate with ALBs to provide guidance and support on financial reporting requirements.
• Assist in the preparation of audit schedules and liaise with external auditors.
• Monitor and report on key financial metrics and performance indicators.
• Support the finance team in other accounting and financial management tasks as needed.

Qualifications:

• Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA) is preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in financial accounting, preferably within the public sector.
• Strong understanding of government accounting standards and regulations.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
