Product Content Manager

Reporting to the Senior Content Enrichment Manager, you'll lead a team of copy editors ensuring customer-facing product information meets e-commerce demands and customer expectations. By delivering accurate, engaging, and compliant content, you'll enhance the shopping experience, help customers make informed decisions, and build trust.

Responsibilities:
- Drive the strategy for how we present written information to our customers to ensure relevancy and consistency with respect to display and tone of voice.
- Oversee and guide a team in reviewing and refining product titles and descriptions, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and alignment with best practices for search engine optimisation (SEO)
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders within Screwfix teams including Trading, E-commerce and QA.
- Pro-actively deal with meeting deadlines and workload priorities to ensure the production of new product launches and is delivered within agreed timelines and to a high standard
- Collaborates with the PIM manager to ensure any change maximises efficiency with the PIM.
- Take the lead and proactively look for continuous improvement opportunities to improve processes and optimise efficiency.
- Provide regular insightful reporting on progress of projects, highlighting areas of risk together with any key recommendations
- Actively support suppliers when required to protect and deliver the necessary standards, highlighting suppliers who are consistently not meeting our requirements.
- Invest time with and Influence stakeholders to improve the copy-editing process to drive efficiency and compliance to our specifications and standards.
- Ensures colleagues have sufficient information and guidance to make effective decisions.
- Through quarterly check ins, agree clear expectations for all colleagues ensuring that objectives and targets are aligned to business requirements and reviewed regularly.
- Give colleagues regular constructive feedback through regular 1 to 1s, building performance and recognises the contribution of individuals in a way that is valued by that individual.
- Challenge behaviour that does not support a team working environment.
- Encourage colleagues to progress their development plan, providing support where necessary.
- Creates a sense of energy and pace based upon personal example.
Qualifications:
- - Proven experience in managing customer facing product information, ideally a copywriting / proof-reading role.
- Experience in managing and leading teams responsible for editing and optimising product titles and descriptions, with a focus on SEO best practices.
- Proficient SEO experience or working in a Digital capacity desirable.
- Able to network and influence.
- Experienced working in a matrix management environment.
- Experience of using PIM or PMDM systems to manage core product data.
- Able to interpret, draw conclusions and act on KPIs and category performance data.
- Efficient planning skills when managing a range of tasks
- A flexible and adaptive approach to assess changes whilst ensuring objectives are met.
