An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, motivated individual to work within our Non-Sterile Pharmacy Production Unit based within Main Pharmacy at Colchester Hospital

Main duties of the job

Under qualified supervision, prepare non-sterile products on a small-scale manufacturing or assembly basis; operating and maintaining the equipment used for these procedures and at times fulfil individual prescriptions.

You are expected to be adaptable and be able to adhere to written Standard Operating Procedures for the work undertaken in this regulated environment.

Accuracy, consistency and attention to detail are essential requirements for the post.

You will work with a team of Pharmacy Assistants & Senior Pharmacy Assistants to ensure a quality service producing over-labelled, repacked and manufactured pharmaceutical products.

Person specification

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Working as part of a team
  • Use of computers
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience in pharmacy
  • Previous experience in manufacturing
  • Previous experience in a Hospital setting

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • ‘O’ Level/ GCSE in English/Maths
Desirable criteria
  • NVQ level 2 in Pharmacy Services

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Sound knowledge of metric measurements
  • Demonstrates basic numeracy skills, the ability to accurately add, subtract, multiply and divide
Desirable criteria
  • Familiarity with Windows based applications, particularly Microsoft Office
