MIDAS, one of the UK's most successful inward investment agencies, is seeking to appoint a Key Account Manager to work with existing international investors in Greater Manchester (GM) in order to identify and support further job-creating investment projects.

Key Responsibilities:

The successful applicant will be tasked with building relationships with circa 70 foreign owned businesses in the City Region with a view to securing meaningful meetings with C-Suite contacts, to discuss each company’s plans, current status, areas where MIDAS, and the wider Growth Company, can offer support, with the aim of identifying growth plans which will lead to further job-creating investment that will benefit both the company and the economic growth of GM.

The Key Account Manager will maintain the relationships built and will continue to support the companies to ensure their growth plans come to fruition, working closely with partners such as the Department for Business and Trade, utilising their international teams as a ‘virtual team’ providing a direct connection with the companies head offices.

Requirements:

We are seeking an experienced business professional with an entrepreneurial flair, who can:

Develop strategic relationships with companies who have an existing presence in GM to maximise their growth opportunities and allow understanding of and influence in their location decisions.
Secure relationships at strategic level, typically C- level with the target companies both within GM but also at EHQ/Global HQ level.
Proactively engage with new accounts to establish new relationships and identify and develop job-creating expansion and job safeguarding opportunities from your account managed companies.

Support the Head of Key Account Management and project manage the investment opportunities originating from account management, providing a bespoke service that meets all client needs and goals that may include research, stakeholder and network engagement, property solutions, business support, facilitation with local government etc., to a successful conclusion.

Work with colleagues in The Growth Company to develop tailored packages of assistance to support growth opportunities including access to finance, assistance with infrastructure development, recruitment and training support and access to new markets.

Update & maintain regular notes via the company CRM system and develop account plans for complex accounts.
Achieve targets of account management interaction, company meetings, identification of expansion projects, and successful project closures.
Adopt a co-operative and positive style of working with the Heads of Business Development and The Growth Company colleagues to share sector intelligence.

Maintain an up to date understanding of sector trends at a global level and also at a local level to ensure your discussions are relevant.

About you:

Substantial prior B2B consultative sales experience, within in a highly commercial environment, and evidence of market and network development, preferably within GM’s key sectors.

Knowledge of one or more of the following sectors and/or markets, ideally with an established network: Financial and Business Services; Creative, Media and Digital/ICT; Advanced Manufacturing; Biomedical and Life Sciences; and Energy and Environment.

Previous experience of account management in international economic development, potentially with the Department for International Trade / Department for Business & Trade.
Able to identify and develop long term partnerships with key customers to create the optimal environment for inward investment.
Good understanding of the full sales cycle, from research and planning to marketing and lead generation; through to project management; closing the deal and aftercare.
Experienced and skilled negotiator, able to influence at the most senior level.
You may have experience of the following: Business Development Manager, Sales Manager, New Business Development, Account Management, Partnership Manager, Client Relationship, Senior Sales Executive, Business Development, Head of Sales, Account Manager, Senior Account Manager, etc.

Access to a vehicle and holding a current driving licence is desirable - car allowance and expenses are available.
