Are you a Pharmacy Technician who is passionate about advancing paediatric medicine through cutting-edge clinical trials? Do you have the skills and experience to handle novel and complex therapies in a fast-paced and dynamic environment? If so, you might be the perfect candidate for our Pharmacy Clinical Trials Team at Great Ormond Street Hospital.

As a Pharmacy Technician in our team, you will be involved in the setup and study management of a portfolio of clinical trials including innovative treatments such as Advance therapies (CAR-T therapy & gene therapy products) for a range of clinical specialists.

You will work closely with world renowned Investigators and an expert multidisciplinary team to ensure these therapies' safe and effective delivery to children and their families across the trust.

You will also be part of a nationally and internationally renowned research centre, where you will have the opportunity to contribute to developing and implementing best practices in clinical trial pharmacy

You must have valid UK registration as a Pharmacy Technician with an accredited checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT) qualification and previous clinical trial experience. Previous experience in ATIMPs and Pharmacy Technical Services (PTS) is desirable but not essential

Main duties of the job
  • To Review the Pharmacy Feasibility, Capacity and Costings for new trials and write relevant summary forms for GOSH clinical trials following the clinical trial protocols, ICH Good Clinical Practice (GCP), Clinical Trials Directive and any other relevant legislation and guidance
  • To Manage a portfolio of clinical trial, liaising with Sponsors and research teams from Site Selection stage to closing of the trial and archiving of all records, and to be the main point of contact in pharmacy for IMP management and records for those trials.
  • To Lead on the IMP management of the study portfolio, including procurement, receipt, storage and dispensing of CTIMPs and ATIMPs.
  • To Communicate effectively with clinical trial representatives of the pharmaceutical industry, clinicians, academics, trial co-ordinators, nursing, and pharmacy staff to ensure that all trials are conducted appropriately and comply with GCP, Clinical Trials Directive, legal and local requirement
  • To Collaborate with the clinical and research transition teams to set up new advanced therapies in the clinical service
  • To Assist the clinical and Academic teams in the management of licensed and compassionate use ATMP treatment
  • To be Accountable for own professional actions, guided by local, national, and professional protocols and legal framework

  • Knowledge of Clinical Trials regulations
  • Experience of Clinical Trials and the management of Investigational Medicinal Products

Desirable criteria
  • Relevant Pharmacy Technical Services experience as a Pharmacy Technician

Academic/Professional qualification/Training

Essential criteria
  • Educated to degree level
  • GPhC registered Pharmacy TechnicianBTEC and NVQ Level 3 in Pharmaceutical Sciences or NVQ Diploma in Pharmacy Service Skills (QCF) Level 3 (City and Guilds) and Level 3 Diploma in Pharmaceutical Science (QCF) or equivalent qualification supported by Pharmacy work experience
  • GPhC registered Pharmacy Technician
  • Accuracy checking qualification
  • GCP training
