Successful candidates will have a unique experienceworking on or supporting the latest ground-breaking cyber securityand networking technologies on a national and international scale.This opportunity will allow those involved to have first-handexposure to the latest technologies via the research anddevelopment that we are undertaking to secure ourtelecommunications networks, in order to keep the UK the safestplace to live and do business online.

It also gives exposure tosenior government department officials, communications industryleaders and academic professionals, all key stakeholders in thework of UKTL as you help UKTLs leaders to coordinate meetings andbriefings.

As a trusted andindependent national capability, the UKTL will interact at theintersection of standards bodies, such as 3GPP, the National CyberSecurity Centre and the wider UK intelligence community, academia,Ofcom, as well as Communications Service Providers andtelecommunication equipment vendors.

UKTL is seekingan experienced Cyber security Engineer to join the teamresponsible for keeping the organisation secure, who willcontribute by maintaining and implementing technicalcontrols from the endpoint, across the network and into thecloud.

The role involves operational support, enabling projectdelivery and SOC activities, as well as ensuring systemvulnerabilities are addressed through effective patch and lifecyclemanagement across a diverse portfolio of systems within acorporate and scientific environment.

Responsibilities
  • Reviewing and acting upon security alerts generated bytooling.
  • Monitor theenvironment for potential threats, vulnerabilities and indicatorsof compromise.
  • Act as anescalation point for other members of the security team, providingassistance and mentoring where necessary.
  • Contributing to the development of SOC procedures anddocumentation.
  • Assist withremediation activities.
  • UnderstandingThreat Intelligence and its use.
  • Produce new workflows for automationtools.

Successful Applicants must be able to commute to theUKTL offices in Birmingham at least twice a week with an option ofhybrid working.
