The development of the new integrated Inclusion and Engagement team provides a significant opportunity to bring together resources and support for the delivery of system-wide change.

The Inclusion and Engagement Manager is an exciting role within the integrated Inclusion and Engagement Team hosted by Manchester City Council (MCC) and provides a real opportunity to deliver meaningful change in the city. You will play a key part in delivering MCC’s equality, Inclusion and engagement objectives, ensuring that they are embedded within the commissioning and delivery of high quality services which meet the needs of our population.

This will include you supporting the delivery of MCCs key priorities and equality events through the existing team collaborating with our HROD partners and staff networks. You will also have a key role in ensuring that MCC meets its statutory duties as enshrined in the Equality Act 2010 and Public Sector Equality Duty so will need experience of this.

You will manage a team, focused on supporting MCC to deliver meaningful Equality Impact Assessments and an assurance process as well as advising on service redesign and project management in relation to the inclusion agenda to enable Manchester City Council (MCC) to meet its Equality and Inclusion ambitions.

This will ensure that advancing equality and addressing inequalities is integral to the delivery of the city's ‘Our Manchester’ strategy, equality objectives and other relevant strategies

You will be an equality, inclusion and engagement expert with experience of applying your knowledge of equality and human rights legislation practically to inform the design and delivery of strategy, policy and services. You will be able to provide guidance and advice to a wide range of stakeholders, including voluntary and community groups, ensuring that you find opportunities to work collaboratively to build the lived experience of people who experience inequalities into tangible programmes of work.

You will be knowledgeable about current equality and human rights issues and how they apply to public services, particularly local government and keen to drive positive change to address inequalities.

You will be a highly skilled and experienced line manager who has a track record of getting the best out of their team and able to create a nurturing and compassionate environment for a team that deals with sensitive and complex matters on a daily basis.
