We are looking to recruit an outstanding teacher and faculty leader to assume a key leadership position as Director of Social and Health Sciences. The faculty is housed and mainly taught within Scott Medical and Healthcare College, apart from those courses taught at Key Stage 3 & 4 at Stoke Damerel Community College.

Both colleges are on the same campus.

The successful candidate will lead the Social and Health Sciences across the campus. They will be a talented, outstanding and ambitious teacher with excellent organisational and motivational skills. Bringing a proven track record of success in improving standards and raising student outcomes.

The successful candidate will work across Stoke Damerel Community College and Scott Medical & Healthcare College. No additional travel is required as the sites are next door to each other.

Main duties and responsibilities

The post holder will be responsible for:

  • Development and implementation of a World Class Curriculum and holistic Social and Health Science Pathway.
  • Promote the work of the college and courses contributing to the Medical and Healthcare Pathway of Scott College so that it is seen as the place to study.
  • Development of community links to enhance the opportunities within each of the subject areas
  • Link with external partners within these fields to develop an enriched offer for students to gain hands-on experience
  • Academic outcomes at KS4 and KS5.
  • Leading raising standards within the subject through quality assurance of teaching, learning and assessment.
  • Oversight of operational practice within the department.
  • Lead a collaborative team across the campus.
  • Line management of the subject leads and post holders within the faculty.
