Preparation Supervisor - Lighting and Video

The Preparation Supervisor will be responsible for the lighting & video technician team in the Manchester warehouse. They will also have to ensure that their department assists all employees of the operations and other offices, if necessary, in the execution of their duties and responsibilities.

This role will manage the performance indicators and support the development of their team members.

Please note that the site location will be moving to Rochdale in late October.

Main Responsibilities
  • Support and coach the warehouse lighting & video team in their daily management of equipment.
  • Assist with the planning and organisation of the daily activities of the department.
  • Ensure technical resources management; pieces and necessary material to repair, inspect, prepare and maintain equipment.
  • Ensure optimal inventory management, follow-up on missing and damaged equipment.
  • Manage equipment returns process and quality control tests.
  • Prepare complex orders, scan, and put them inside transport cases.
  • Assist with the coordination of the schedule and the maintenance of the equipment.
  • Act as a point of contact for teams on the road concerning the technical aspect of the equipment.
  • Assist with transferring shipments to other locations.
  • Identify and solve technical problems.
  • Advise management regarding equipment needs and acquiring equipment.
  • Create and maintain documentation and software.
  • Design, develop and budget new equipment configurations as needed.
  • Work with clients to ensure that their needs are met.
  • Monitor quality of work executed according to Solotech’s standards.
  • Identify and eliminate the potential risks related to health and security.
  • Any other reasonable ad-hoc duties as required by your manager.

Essential skills / experience:

  • Current up to date technical knowledge of professional lighting and video equipment.
  • General technical knowledge in the following areas: audio and rigging.
  • Ability to coach and mentor the junior members of the team.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure.
  • Ability to comfortably adapt to change.
  • Autonomy and sense of responsibility.
  • Engaging demeanour with both customers and employees.
  • Demonstrated passion for the business and a high degree of energy, enthusiasm and integrity;
  • Good administration skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Willingness and ability to learn quickly.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, ability to use a database.

Desirable skills / experience:

  • Knowledge of inventory systems

Other requirements:

  • Right to work in the UK
  • Ability to travel throughout the UK including overnight stays from time to time
  • Full and clean UK driving license is preferred
  • The ability to work overtime and antisocial hours

Level of education:

  • Educated to degree level (or equivalent) in the field of audio / AV

Work experience:

  • A minimum of 5 years proven industry work experience.
