Would you like to work as part of a team supporting a diverse community and working to develop children's speech, language and communication skills?
We are a dedicated, innovative and supportive team, working to improve the outcomes of children and families across Bradford. You will work directly with children and families in the community, as well as with nursery and school staff.
This role includes managing your own time and working independently, whilst receiving support and specialist training from our team of dedicated Speech and Language Therapists. You will receive regular supervision and will have opportunities to develop your skills in specialist areas.
We also have sessions available working with our dedicated Youth Justice Team, supporting children and young people involved with the criminal justice system. You will support Speech and Language Therapists to carry out assessment and interventions as well as producing resources to support young people and professionals.

Main duties of the job
To support the work of the Speech and Language Therapists working with children and young people with communication difficulties, and / or eating and drinking difficulties. The post holder will work as part of a team, but will be required to independently carry out therapy programmes, under the supervision of a Speech and Language Therapist.This post holder will undertake a variety of clinical tasks, which on completion of the relevant training, will include supporting individuals with eating and drinking difficulties.

Qualifications
Essential criteria- NVQ III or Btec qualification or equivalent in a subject relevant to the post e.g. Child Development
Training
Essential criteria- IT skills and knowledge
- Evidence of training relating to specific client groups
- Able to work on own initiative at specified time
- Familiarity with IT symbol systems e.g. Boardmaker / Communicate in Print
Experience
Essential criteria- Relevant experience of working with children/young people who have complex communication needs (and possible complex health needs).
- Experience of working within a school or nursery
- Knowledge and experience of working in a multicultural environment
- Experience of working with children with feeding needs
- Experience of alternative / augmentative communication
- Experience of delivering communication programmes
Knowledge
Essential criteria- Knowledge of the complexities of children/adults with complex communication needs
- Evidence of working with children or young people with communication needs and their families/carers
- Knowledge of specific communication/feeding disorders/treatment approaches
- Knowledge of Makaton
Skills
Essential criteria- Demonstrate ability to be a good team member
- Able to work in a variety of settings and locations
- Good administration/presentation skills – written/verbal
- Ability to speak a community language
