Learning Support Assistant - Aldershot

We are seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join our supportive team at a special needs school in Winchester. The school caters to children with autism, physical disabilities, and complex medical needs.This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young learners, providing vital support in a nurturing and inclusive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist children with autism and physical disabilities in their learning and daily activities.
- Provide personal care when neccessary, including assisting with mobility, feeding, and hygiene where necessary.
- Support students with their medical needs, following individual care plans.
- Work closely with teachers and other professionals to implement tailored educational programs.
- Encourage students’ independence and social development in a safe, supportive environment.
- Observe and report on students’ progress and well-being, ensuring their needs are met.
- Maintain a positive and proactive approach to behavior management.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Experience working with children with special educational needs (SEN), preferably with autism, physical disabilities, or medical needs (desirable not essential)
- A caring, patient, and empathetic approach to supporting children.
- An understanding of personal care requirements and a willingness to provide assistance where needed.
- Ability to work well within a team, collaborating with teachers, therapists, and other professionals.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
- A flexible, proactive, and resilient attitude in a dynamic, diverse environment.
- A relevant qualification (e.g., Teaching Assistant, Care, or SEN-related qualification) is desirable but not essential.
