Job Summary

As a Chef, you will play a pivotal role in delivering nutritious, well-balanced meals that enhance the wellbeing of the residents, while also overseeing kitchen staff and ensuring a smooth operation within a care home environment.

• Prepare and cook high-quality, nutritious meals tailored to meet the dietary requirements and preferences of our residents, including special diets (e.g., diabetic, soft, and pureed foods).
• Ensure all food is prepared safely and hygienically, strictly adhering to food safety regulations and the care home's guidelines.
• Manage kitchen operations, including inventory control, ordering supplies, and maintaining kitchen equipment in compliance with health and safety standards.
• Supervise and train kitchen staff, ensuring a collaborative and efficient team environment.
• Plan and develop menus in consultation with the management team, incorporating resident feedback and seasonal ingredients.
• Monitor food presentation and portion control to ensure consistency, quality, and nutritional balance.
• Work closely with care staff to ensure meals are served on time, meeting the individual needs of each resident.
• Maintain cleanliness, organisation, and hygiene of the kitchen and dining areas at all times.

• Proven experience as a Chef or in a similar catering role, preferably within a care home or healthcare setting.
• Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, nutrition, and dietary requirements for older adults.
• Commitment to maintaining high standards of hygiene, food safety, and health regulations (knowledge of HACCP is a plus).
• Excellent leadership and team management skills, with experience in supervising staff.
• A passion for hospitality and enhancing the dining experience for residents.
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail and ensuring meal times are adhered to.
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends, and the ability to accommodate the needs of the residents.
• Relevant culinary qualifications or certifications are advantageous but not essential.
