An exciting opportunity has arisen for enthusiastic, motivated, dynamic, and experienced MSK/ Obstetrics and Gynaecology Sonographer’s to join our friendly department at Croydon University Hospital and to work cross-site at Purley memorial hospital/CDC centres as well.

The successful candidate will work as an MSK/ Obstetrics and Gynaecology Sonographer ensuring the Ultrasound services at Croydon are delivered effectively. The Ultrasound Department is well equipped with up-to-date equipment / Obstetrics and Gynaecology Sonographers work in the Main Ultrasound department, Antenatal Department and the vascular department.

Croydon University Hospital is a large urban DGH situated in South London, serving the needs of a diverse population of 360,000. It has one of the busiest A & E departments in London. Croydon has easy access to both central London and the south coast.

The department performs in excess of 250,000 all examinations per annum and has an active Clinical Governance programme. There are currently approximately 100 WTE Staff in post in the Diagnostic Imaging department, including 22 Consultant Radiologists and Speciality Grade Doctors.

Main duties of the job

Act as an autonomous practitioner whilst maintaining a close working relationship with Lead Sonographer, Service Manager and key referring Clinicians to deliver an efficient, high quality Ultrasound service

To support the effective planning, development, organisation and delivery of Ultrasound and specific, well defined sub-speciality ultrasound training for sonographers and medical staff working collaboratively with the Lead Sonographer and Lead Radiologist;

To provide highly specialist, expert clinical ultrasound knowledge, acting as a clinical resource in the ultrasound department

To partake in undergraduate and postgraduate Ultrasound training across all grades including supervising, motivating and developing other staff as appropriate

To provide specialist input into the Trust clinical governance agenda, influencing the delivery of patient care, as appropriate, working at any site as required
