Credit Risk Analyst
You are expected to ask pertinent questions, learn, and develop solutions to enhance our risk management tools and processes.You will interact with all areas within Risk Management, collaborating with Market Risk, Liquidity and Collateral Risk, Quantitative Risk, and Enterprise Risk Management teams.
Additionally, you will engage with members, counterparts, regulators, and other LME departments, building relationships with internal and external stakeholders across the industry. The ability to work effectively with colleagues at all levels and with outside entities is essential.Responsibilities:Assess credit quality, assign credit ratings, and help manage the portfolio of LME Clear/s and LME/s credit exposures.Conduct credit risk assessments on acceptable collateral types (mainly sovereigns, MDBs), counterparties (members, investment counterparties, service providers, etc.), and clients.Create reports using Excel, macros, and Power BI to transform data into actionable credit risk insights, and monitor/report on credit risk issues.Monitor early warning indicators to identify changes in creditworthiness, follow escalation procedures, and recommend adjustments to conditions and limits.Ensure credit risk management systems have appropriate functionality and data capture.Perform industry and country risk analyses.Assist in developing and implementing credit scoring models for LME members, investment counterparties, sovereigns, warehouse companies, and critical service providers.Contribute to the development of credit policies and risk frameworks.Prepare papers on specific issues for Risk Committee and Executive Committee presentations.Present findings to Risk and Executive Committees.Liaise with stakeholders to ensure risk assessments are understood.Qualifications Required:Degree or equivalent in quantitative finance, mathematics, economics, or a related discipline.Preferred Knowledge and Experience:Experience in financial institutions and knowledge of the LME/HKEX.Experience in data analysis and reporting, with an ability to handle large datasets and perform detailed analysis.Proficiency in PowerPoint, Excel, SQL, VBA, Power BI, and Python.Understanding of accounting; pursuing CFA/FRM certification is a plus.Experience with financial institution credit analysis.Skills Required:Strong verbal and written communication skills.Good understanding of credit risk.Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.Good judgment and decision-making skills.Numerical proficiency.Critical analysis and reasoning skills.
