Overview:

Engineering Department Manager | Salary £55,000 p/a + Bonus | Chichester | West Sussex

Reporting into the Site Engineering Manager, the successful candidate will oversee & supervise our Engineering Team. You will provide impactful management of the Engineering department, delivering an effective service to our internal colleagues.

You will also support the running of a safe, profitable, and efficient food manufacturing plant, aligned to our internal customer objectives by providing an effective engineering/maintenance department.

Natures Way Foods is the leading manufacturer of prepared salads, coleslaw and “food-to-go” for supermarkets and retailers, and as such we work closely with farmers across Europe. But there’s lots more to us than the products we make.

You will already have experience in:

  • Managing and developing a team of Engineers
  • The day-to-day activities of the site-based engineering department
  • Continuous improvement of engineering practices and standards
  • Manage the shift within set engineering standards and KPI’s
  • Complete Risk Assessments, inspections, investigations, and training where appropriate
  • Maintenance procedures written and delivered to engineers
  • Clear accountability for the performance of your shift each day. This includes KPIs that relate to engineering, operational, and financial performance

  • Playing an active role in the delivery of the continuous improvement programme for the site.
  • Continuously identifying ways to reduce cost and improve standards. Ensuring full stakeholder engagement throughout
  • Develop members of the team in line with NWF values
Other experience required
  • Recognised electrical qualification
  • Extensive experience within a fast-paced Industrial engineering environment
  • People management experience
  • Working understanding of Health & Safety legislation
  • Strong communicator (written & verbal)
  • IT Literate
  • Degree level qualification preferred, but not essential, time served with proven engineering track record is adequate
  • Experience managing teams within in a FMCG based manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrates good business acumen, able to analyse and interpret data and identify trends
  • Project and time management skills
