Are you looking to develop your skills within trauma? An opportunity has arisen within our Band 6 trauma and orthopaedic and vascular physiotherapy rotation. Six month fixed term available with potential to be extended.
Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust is an Academic Health Science Centre (AHSC) and the largest trust in the country. We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Band 6 Physiotherapist to join our team. You will need to be able to manage a varying and complex caseload of in-patients and have experience of discharge planning. The post is rotational and involves 6 monthly rotations through a variety of areas including Major Trauma, elective Orthopaedics, trauma Orthopaedics and plastics, surgical rehabilitation, Vascular Surgery and amputee and prosthetic rehabilitation.
You will work 37.5 hours/week over 7 days. You would be joining a supportive, well established team committed to providing a high standard of clinical care and modernising services to meet the needs of patients, referrers and commissioners. You will work closely with established multi-disciplinary teams and be supported by a team of experienced Band 7 and 8 therapists.The Department actively supports Continuing Professional Development and runs an established appraisal system and a comprehensive in-service training programme.
Main duties of the job- To provide a high standard physiotherapy service to patients in all rotational areas
- To acquire and demonstrate knowledge of relevant pathologies, conditions, normal values relating to the specialist area of physiotherapy.
- To be responsible for own case load and be responsible within a defined area of the service and to undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner.
- To supervise and contribute to the training and development of physiotherapy assistants and junior physiotherapists and physiotherapy students.
- To undertake evidence-based audit and research projects to further own and team’s clinical practice within each area
- To make recommendations for service development, with active involvement in the implementation of changes to practice or service protocols.
- To work at weekends covering orthopaedics as part of their contracted hours of work, (specific rota details are held locally within departments).

Education/ Qualifications
Essential criteria- Degree (or equivalent) in Physiotherapy.
- State registration with the Health Professions Council.
- Evidence of CPD through maintenance of a portfolio.
- Able to demonstrate specialist learning from junior rotations, formal post-graduate level learning and informal CPD (both general and specific to clinical fields of speciality).
- Membership of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy
- Membership of CSP special interest groups relevant to speciality
Experience
Essential criteria- Proven relevant clinical experience in trauma and orthopaedics.
- Experience of working as part of a physiotherapy and multidisciplinary team
- Experience of clinical education of staff, students or assistants.
- Experience of supervision of students/ physiotherapy assistants, with development of basic supervision skills.
- Previous experience in the NHS as a qualified physiotherapist
- Previous Band 6 experience in relevant post
- Involvement with Clinical Governance issues and an understanding of their relation to patient care
Skills/Knowledge/ Abilities
Essential criteria- Able to apply a range and depth of knowledge to this specialist area
- Able to use knowledge of a range of treatment approaches in the management of trauma and orthopaedic conditions.
- Ability to remain up to date with professional practice and research and integrate this into daily patient management
- Competent IT skills.
- Good presentation skills.
