We are looking for a committed and detail-oriented Job Evaluation Advisor - Staff Side to join our HR Operations team. This pivotal role supports accurate and consistent NHS job evaluations across SCW and its partner organisations, contributing to fair pay structures and workforce planning that ultimately benefit patients and populations.
This role can be delivered virtually with no expectation of work travel or site visits other than by arrangement and agreement.
Main duties of the job- Deliver unbiased job evaluations using the Agenda for Change (AfC) Job Evaluation Scheme and national profiles.
- Support managers in drafting and reviewing job descriptions and person specifications.
- Conduct detailed analysis of roles and provide clear rationale for evaluation outcomes.
- Participate in partnership panels with internal and external stakeholders.
- Maintain transparent audit trails and self-audit evaluation work.
- Offer guidance on good practice, legislation updates, and improvements to local evaluation processes.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
As the Assistant Job Evaluation Advisor, you will act as a subject matter expert on NHS job evaluation, supporting both internal and external customers. You will apply your in-depth understanding of AfC principles to evaluate roles objectively, assist in delivering a high-quality job matching service, and contribute to service improvements through analysis and feedback.The role also requires supporting training, audits, and bespoke HR projects. You will be expected to travel when needed and manage workload effectively to meet service level agreements.
Applicants must play an active trade union role with a recognised trade union. Being fully 'job evaluation' trained is desirable but not essential, as training can be provided.

Education
Essential criteria- Educated to Degree level education or equivalent or previous relevant experience
- Level 5 CIPD
- Evidence of undertaking formal JE training course
Knowledge & Experience
Essential criteria- Good level of knowledge of NHS Terms and Conditions of service
- Expert knowledge of NHS JE Scheme
- Demonstrable experience in a similar customer focused role
- Advanced knowledge and skill in the use of JE process and systems
- Regular requirement to develop or create outcome reports
- Advanced computer and keyboard skills with good understanding of spreadsheets and data extraction
- Demonstrable experience of working in an NHS JE environment
- Experience of Job Analysis Questionnaire (JAQ)
Skills & Capabilities
Essential criteria- In depth communication skills dealing with highly complex evaluations, providing clear outcome feedback to no match evaluations. Ability to cope where there are barriers to understanding.
- Experience of analysing evaluation outcome and trends. Escalating to HR Admin services manager, Assistant HR Business Partner and/or local HR as required
- The ability to inspire confidence in the delivery of the JE service
- Ability to concentrate for long periods of time to undertake complex analysis
- Demonstrable experience in the planning workloads both short and long term
- Makes sensible, intelligent decisions in deadline driven situations
- Flexible approach to work to ensure deadlines are achieved
- Ability to travel as and when required
Office location can be flexible within the NHS SCW estate and will be agreed upon offer of contract.
NHS SCW staff that are in posts considered to be agile will not be expected to attend office space for general working but will be required on occasions to attend face to face meetings and collaborative working sessions that may require travel to their home base or other locations across the estate or customer sites.
