- Assure the Value for Money of HMG’s sectoral investments
We deliver an array of high-profile analytical work to support policies in key sectors of the economy. Our toolbox includes a wide range of analysis to shape and influence sectoral policy including cost benefit analysis, business intelligence, economic modelling, data science techniques, statistical analysis, and social research and programme evaluation.
These are high profile, exciting roles that will give the applicant an opportunity to lead analysis and support policy thinking on how government can support some the largest sectors of the economy.
In these principal analysts roles you will:
- Lead on the assessment of individual special situation cases including assessing the case for government intervention, identifying the market failure(s), and value for money assessments. Working alongside policy/finance/legal, HMT and other interested/affect government departments to advise senior officials and ministers on the best solution to the situation.
- Lead analysis and work closely with the EII policy team to develop and assess policy options to improve their international competitiveness.
- Communicate directly with large companies and trade associations to understand key challenges faced by industry in their transition to Net Zero.
- Provide analytical leadership and build the evidence base for foundational sectors, focusing on the role of market failures and potential case for intervention.
- Lead analysis on building resilience and economic security for critical minerals and other foundation sectors through diversification of the supply chain.
- Lead analysis on the rail and maritime sectors, developing evidence to inform policies aimed at helping the transformation of the sectors.
- Lead analysis across consumer and creative industry teams, and work to develop the evidence base to inform both policy development and the industrial strategy.
- Lead analysis for Professional Business Services, engage with Sector Teams and Policy leads to develop evidence base and support PBS as a priority sector of the Industrial Strategy
