Job overview
Due to new ways of working and the need to expand the times and days offered to our patients, we are offering a rewarding challenge to an enthusiastic and motivated Band 2 Health Care Assistant.
We have many specialities that you will have the opportunity to experience These are, Respiratory, Rapid Breast , Endocrinology, Cardiology and ENT, to name but a few.
These specialities will be found in the main OPD areas in the Birmingham Treatment Centre, Sandwell Health Campus and Rowley Regis Hospital where you will be expected to take part in cross site working.
We offer a 4-6 months mentorship with an experienced team member so you can feel confident and part of the team straight away.
We would welcome applications from candidates who have previous experience and are prepared to undertake the level 2 healthcare support worker apprenticeship programme as part of their employment.
Main duties of the job
Main duties will be to assist the clinician, such as performing height & weight measurements, testing urine samples and blood pressure monitoring and then inputting the data into the Electronic Patient Record
You will be called to chaperone while the clinician examines the patient
The successful candidate should be friendly, motivated and open to learning new ways of working.

Qualifications
Essential criteria- Key skills – literacy and numeric (or equivalent)
- Care Certificate or willing to work towards achieving qualification
- NVQ Level II In Direct Care/Post Natal Care/Diagnostics and Therapeutics.
- Basic First Aid Certificate
- Food Handling Certificate
Experience
Desirable criteria- Previous experience in an outpatient setting in a health care environment.
