Are you a professional Sonographer with a commitment to first class patient care and the drive to work within a high performing team? .

The Ultrasound service is Sonographer led, receiving referrals from GPs, outpatients, wards and the Emergency Department. The department also provides the lithotripsy service, for which full training is provided.

This opportunity would appeal to those looking to develop their General Ultrasound skills and gain experience across a range of complex case. We would also welcome applicants with MSK experience.

We offer preceptorship from band 7 to 8A on successful completion of clinical and managerial competencies. Please contact us for additional information.

The successful candidate will have a professional and practical attitude to their work with strong imaging and reporting skills. They will be comfortable working under pressure, ‘multi-tasking’ and liaising with multidisciplinary teams. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential with current/recent NHS experience to work both autonomously and in a team environment

Main duties of the job

To be an effective member of the Ultrasound team, providing a high quality, comprehensive and efficient Ultrasound service to patients and referring clinicians; to include the timely issue of diagnostic reports, based on Ultrasound findings.

To undertake all aspects of work in the Ultrasound Department, as appropriate to grade, including the supervision and mentoring of more

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To independently undertake general ultrasound sessions, providing comprehensive and

accurate computerised reports on all examinations.

To undertake a wide variety of diagnostic ultrasound examinations, maintaining high professional standards of technical competence.

To ensure a high quality patient focussed professional service is delivered at all times.

To assess and adapt techniques for each examination to meet the individual needs of the patient.

To analyse the clinical information and determine the most appropriate scanning method and technique

Person specification

Education

Essential criteria
  • HCPC registered
  • DCR or degree in Radiography
  • DMU or Post Graduate Diploma in Ultrasound
Desirable criteria
  • MSC in Ultrasound
  • Evidence of involvement in audit PGcert or equivalent in appropriate reporting modality

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience across a wide range of ultrasound examinations
  • NHS experience
Desirable criteria
  • 1 year post Ultrasound Diploma experience

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Sound knowledge of cross sectional anatomy and understanding of complex pathologies
