Job overview

The postholder will work closely with the PICU Quality Improvement Manager and the project Supervisors to set up and co-ordinate a funded project investigating shiftwork and fatigue among staff on the PICU.

Main duties of the job

Lead in the development, co-ordination and delivery of the project on the PICU at BWCH.

Duties will include, contributing to a literature review and data collection and responsibility for the analysis of information in existing databases. Data will include qualitative interviews and stakeholder involvement that will support a future research grant application.

You will develop and utilise a working knowledge of and compliance with local, national and international data protection and research regulations.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Hons level degree in a relevant subject area or equivalent level of professional experience
  • SLAiP course (support learning and assessment in practice) or equivalent or willing to work towards
Desirable criteria
  • Post Graduate training
  • Registered Nurse

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working within a critical care environment.
  • An interest in improving practice though audit/research activity and delivering/promoting evidence-based care
  • Experience of clinical teaching
  • Experience of clinical research/quality improvement/audit
  • Sound working knowledge of Trust governance frameworks

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Literature searching skills
Desirable criteria
  • Ability to undertake simple statistical/thematic analysis

  • Advanced communication skills with ability to converse using different platforms
