Principal/Associate Mechanical Engineer
Location: Manchester Office
We are expanding our Mechanical Engineering team and are seeking a driven and experienced Principal/Associate Mechanical Engineer.
Role Overview: Reporting to the Director, you will lead the delivery and project management of Mechanical Services Design on assigned projects, providing M&E representation. Your responsibilities will include maintaining and improving the quality and efficiency of Mechanical Services design and post-contract implementation, while supporting and mentoring junior engineers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead multiple projects
- Manage the production of scheme design drawings
- Develop mechanical services strategies
- Prepare M&E specifications, including environmental strategies
- Assist in the preparation of elemental M&E cost plans
- Contribute to Stage 2 and 3 MEP Reports
- Manage post-contract stages, ensuring information flow aligns with the contract works programme
- Monitor Mechanical Installation works against Mechanical Services Design
- Assist Project QS in cost control
- Establish project briefs, fees, and timescales, ensuring junior personnel are informed
- Ensure mechanical engineering output meets quality criteria
- Provide technical support to junior engineers and technicians
- Prepare Mechanical Services Scheme Design proposals
About You:
- Degree qualified, ideally working towards chartered status
- Proven project experience
- Strong project management, delivery, and quality record
- Excellent people and client-facing skills
- Capable of working independently to solve engineering and management challenges
- Valid UK Driving Licence (preferable)
- Willingness to travel for meetings and projects, including occasional overnight stays in the UK, Europe, or overseas
- Experience with design software such as CAD, Revit, and Bluebeam
