Immigration Enforcement is responsible for enforcing the government’s immigration laws, tackling illegal migration, removing foreign national offenders and immigration offenders from the UK. It also aims to disrupt the organised criminal groups that exploit the vulnerable for their personal gain.

We are looking to recruit Immigration Officers to join our frontline Immigration Compliance and Enforcement (ICE) team.

This is an exciting opportunity to develop and embed a wide range of people and engagement skills, in a job where you can make a real difference.

If successful, you will be required to attend and pass a medical examination; this will involve travel for which costs are not covered.

This is a demanding operational role, requiring personal resilience and integrity. Our officers need to be able to respond to challenges in a calm and professional manner.

Training

You will receive full training and support to do the job. Training takes place initially in the classroom and then continues on the job with a mentor who supports you until you are fully confident in the role. Even then you are never alone; you work as part of a team where there is always someone around for advice and support.

Working Pattern

Successful candidates will need to be able to attend for all shifts including early starts, late finishes, overnight shifts, weekends and public holidays. Due to the business requirements of this role, it is only available on a full-time basis.

Key Responsibilities

Your day-to-day work could include (but is not limited to) the following:

  • Identifying, arresting, and detaining immigration offenders, Protecting, and safeguarding the vulnerable
  • Engaging with communities and partner agencies across government, Demonstrating a genuine interest in people through an inquisitive, open mind and empathy.
  • Completing property and person searches including collecting, preserving, and recording evidence. Conducting residential and commercial compliance & enforcement visits
  • Escorting of immigration offenders to Overseas and UK based locations and can include short term stays abroad or in other UK locations.
  • Gathering intelligence, completing risk assessments, driving official vehicles, conducting database checks and closely examining documents
  • Directing officers whilst on an enforcement visit and conducting Briefings/De-Briefings, Writing reports and inputting data on internal systems and handheld devices
