We are looking for a compassionate and proactive SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and dynamic team at a forward-thinking school. This is a fantastic opportunity for a Psychology graduate looking to gain hands-on experience in an educational setting, especially if you are considering a career in educational psychology, teaching, or therapy.
The Role- Work closely with pupils who require additional support for SEMH needs.
- Assist the class teacher and SENCO in delivering tailored interventions and behaviour support strategies.
- Build positive relationships and offer 1:1 or small group support to help pupils engage in learning and develop emotional resilience.
- Monitor and record progress, behaviour and emotional wellbeing.
- Be a role model of empathy, patience and consistency in the classroom.
- A degree in Psychology or a related field.
- A genuine passion for supporting children and young people with SEMH needs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Resilient, adaptable and confident in managing behaviour positively.
- Previous experience in a school or with young people (voluntary or paid) is highly desirable.
