We are seeking a highly motivated Healthcare support worker to rise to the challenge of working within the Radiology Department of the Princess of Wales Hospital Bridgend.
This is mainly based at the Princess of Wales Hospital, but working in other Cwm Taf Morgannwg sites is a possibility.
You will work alongside the Nurse Manager, Radiology Specialist Nurses and Radiologist to ensure the delivery of high quality nursing care for all patients requiring radiology interventions. Experience within this care setting would be preferential but not essential.
Welsh Skills Desirable: This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. This doesn’t mean essential; whilst the candidate doesn't need to have skills in Welsh, we'll consider it an advantage when short-listing and selecting candidates. This isn’t ‘fluency’, just Speaking & Listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above.Level 3 means basic conversations with patients about their everyday health. Main duties of the job
The Band 3 Health care support worker in Radiology provides support in diagnostic imagine within the radiology department.
Duties: - Patient care and support, patient preparation. Escorting patients, providing comfort and reassurance.
Assisting with procedures - Positioning patients, equipment handling and support during imaging including recording of NEWS.
Administration duties - Ensuring patient records are up to date and accurate, booking on Radiology systems, and requesting notes.
Maintaining cleanliness and safety - Cleaning equipment, radiation safety.
Communication - Patient interaction and ensuring team work with other healthcare professionals to ensure smooth operations within the department.

Person specification
Experience
Essential criteria- previous experience of working with people in a caring capacity
- Experience of working within a hospital
- Previous experience working in a radiology setting
- Experience in a range of clinical skills including ANTT
Knowledge
Essential criteria- GCSEs or equivalent
- Good computer skills and ability to learn
- NVQ level 2 or equivalent, in a health care related subject
Communication
Essential criteria- Excellent communication skills, including verbal and non-verbal
- Welsh language skills in Speaking/Listening at Level 3 or above
