Social Worker (CTL)
Job Summary
A Social Worker (CTL) – Social Care Qualified plays a critical role in supporting children, families, and vulnerable individuals within the social care system. This position involves managing complex cases, safeguarding children, and providing intervention through assessments, care planning, and support services.The role is focused on child protection, family welfare, and ensuring that children’s needs are met in a holistic and supportive manner.
Key Responsibilities
Case Management:
Manage a caseload of children and families, particularly those with complex needs.Conduct comprehensive assessments to evaluate the risks, needs, and strengths of children and families.
Develop, implement, and review individual care plans to promote the safety and well-being of children.
Ensure that children are safeguarded and their welfare is prioritized at all times.
Child Protection:
Identify and assess child protection concerns, and take appropriate action to ensure the safety of children.Liaise with other agencies (e.g., healthcare professionals, police, education) to gather relevant information and coordinate responses to protect children.
Prepare reports for legal proceedings and attend court hearings, advocating for the child’s best interests.
Family Support:
Provide direct support to families, offering guidance and resources to help improve their circumstances.Deliver interventions that promote family reunification or appropriate alternative care where necessary.
Multi-Agency Collaboration:
Work closely with other professionals, including teachers, healthcare providers, and legal teams, to ensure comprehensive support for the child and family.Attend meetings and reviews, contributing to multidisciplinary team discussions and decision-making.
Supervision and Mentoring:
Provide supervision and guidance to junior social workers and trainees.Assist in the development of professional skills and knowledge for less experienced staff, ensuring that standards are met.
Compliance and Reporting:
Ensure that all social work activities comply with relevant legislation, policies, and best practice guidelines.Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements.
Monitor the progress of cases and produce reports for management and external agencies.
Professional Development:
Engage in continuous professional development, including attending training sessions, conferences, and workshops.Stay informed about current legislation, social work practices, and trends in the social care sector.
Essential Qualifications and ExperienceA Social Work degree (or equivalent qualification) recognized by Social Work England.
Social Care Qualified and registered with Social Work England.
Previous experience in children’s social work or child protection is highly desirable.
Knowledge and understanding of current legislation, policies, and procedures relevant to child welfare and social care.
