Associate Sustainability Designer
About The Role:
Join a pioneering, employee-owned architecture and multi-disciplinary practice in London as an Associate Sustainability Designer. Our client is seeking a forward-thinking, pro-active, and confident professional with the ability to communicate complex information clearly and effectively across the practice.
In this role, you’ll be part of a dynamic and collaborative team of sustainability professionals, leading the charge on environmental strategies across projects in close collaboration with the Head of Sustainability. You’ll manage junior team members, provide expert advice to Project Leads, liaise directly with clients, and ensure projects align with ambitious sustainability goals.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead sustainability strategies for key tenders and projects
- Define consultancy scope, fees, and early-stage sustainability opportunities
- Advocate for sustainability throughout project lifecycles
- Conduct design reviews and oversee Post-Occupancy Evaluations
- Integrate passive design, whole-life carbon, and circular economy principles
- Drive net-zero goals, fabric-first approaches, and responsible material use
- Support BREEAM guidance, environmental tools, and CPD programs
- Ensure compliance with ISO 14001 and RIBA 2030 targets
- Contribute to research, industry outreach, and thought leadership
Key Skills/Requirements:
- Previous experience in a leading sustainability role within a design practice
- Master’s in environmental design or equivalent; architectural background essential
- Strong understanding of design principles and RIBA work stages
- Proficiency in passive design, environmental analysis, and thermal modelling
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills
- Adaptable, proactive, and committed to continuous learning
- Familiarity with BREEAM, Passivhaus, and sustainability best practices
