Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit a Band 7 Physiotherapist for Front of House at the Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital(NSECH). The team provide a service to the Emergency Department and range of acute wards based in at NSECH.The suitable candidate will be enthusiastic, innovative, and is ready to take on the responsibility and challenges of a senior position within a busy front of house environment.
The post holder will work with the Principle Physiotherapist for Front of House, and a team of 10 registered and unregistered Physiotherapy staff dedicated to front of house. The post holder will assist in the leadership of the team, on a day to day basis.
The applicant will have the skills and experience to mange a complex caseload, providing high quality physiotherapy to patients with a range of conditions. The role will involve daily MDT working therefore experience of working as part of a MDT is essential.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide expert assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patients presenting to the Emergency department and patients who have been admitted to an acute ward. Experience of working with older people in an acute setting is essential as a large number of patients are older adults.Experience of working with in an Emergency Department is desirable.
The applicant must demonstrate excellent communication skills with Multidisciplinary Teams and peers. Applicants should have experience in supervision, education and training of more junior staff and be involved in student education, research and audit.
Applicants must provide evidence of continuous professional development and post graduate training related to the role. The post holder will be expected to work collaboratively with the senior leadership team in service development. Therefore experience of service development would be advantageous.
The post holder will contribute to a weekend rota, working approximately 1 in 12 weekends. As well as an on call commitment of approximately 1 on call every 6 weeks

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
To deliver Physiotherapy treatment for a complex caseload within this speciality.
To provide highly specialised physiotherapy assessment, diagnosis and treatment using advanced clinical reasoning skills.
To provide clinical education, supervision and support to staff and students within the speciality area.
To provide specialist advice to families, carers, other health and social care professionals and/or education services.
To contribute to planning, development and auditing of the Physiotherapy service within the specialist area.
To supervise registered & unregistered staff within the specialist team.
To role model compassionate and inclusive leadership in order to shape the creation of a collective leadership culture within the trust. This means demonstrating a consistent leadership style which (a) engages, enables and empowers others (b) uses coaching to promote ownership of learning and quality improvement and (c) facilitates team working and collaboration within teams / departments and across organisational boundaries.
Person specification
Qualifications
Essential criteria- BSC Honours degree in Physiotherapy or equivalent
- Member of the Health Professionals Council
- Student training qualification
- Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy
- Working towards Masters level or equivalent accredited courses within chosen speciality e.g. Action Research, McKenzie accredited practitioner, Injection Diploma, Continence Diploma, Accredited Respiratory Care Management.
- Leadership training e.g. LEO/ILM
