We are offering the opportunity of a part clinical and part research post with the Institute of Psychiatry specifically looking into areas of improving health to women in prison. As part of this work, we will be reviewing data on short sentences and the risks these pose to women, family life and long term health and identifying areas of research with the potential to influence policy and explore expanding sentencing options for women.

Main duties of the job
To provide clinical leadership to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care to the residents.
To develop their own specialist interests and if appropriate to bring these in line with Trust and local service development plans.
Teaching and training of specialist nurses, other nurses and prison staff where appropriate.
To contribute to the maintenance and development of Health and Justice services within the Trust to the highest standard through clinical audit and other activities related to Care Quality.

We are seeking an enthusiastic Consultant Psychiatrist/Consultant Forensic Consultant to join our Health & Justice Services at HMP Bronzefield is the largest female prison in Europe. This is a rewarding opportunity to lead and develop mental health care in a complex but highly supportive environment, making a real difference to the lives of women in custody.
- Forensic experience is not essential : we welcome applications from psychiatrists across general adult, community, liaison, or forensic backgrounds who are keen to bring their skills into the secure environment

Qualifications
Essential criteria- ► Relevant Professional Qualification or evidence of ongoing professional development
- ► Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
- ► Included on the GMC Specialist Register OR within six months.
- ► Approved clinician status OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment
- ► Approved under S12 OR able to achieve with 3 months of appointment
- ► MRCPsych
- ► Management and leadership course/qualification
- ► Higher degree (Msc, LLM, MD or PhD)
- ► CCT in forensic psychiatry or Forensic experience or other forensic qualification
PPREVIOUS EXPERIENCE
Essential criteria- ► Clinical leadership/management experience
- ► Track record of improving quality in a service
- ► Experience of job planning
- ► Experience of resolving conflict and complex performance management issues
CLINICIAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE
Essential criteria- ► Excellent clinical skills using bio-psycho- social perspective and wide medical knowledge
- ► Excellent knowledge in specialty
- ► Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
- ► Ability to manage Clinical Complicity
