Key Duties & Responsibilities To undertake independently obstetric or obstetric and gynaecological ultrasound examinations according to the unit policies and guidelines to a high standard. Have the ability to make clinical judgements and critical decisions of the highest order, using knowledge, skills, and experience.
Be able to interpret clinicians requirements, to recognise the urgency of ultrasound requests, prioritise requests and determine the appropriate scanning technique, ensuring that scans are performed in accordance with best practice and research-based evidence.
To interpret scans and provide a comprehensive, independent, diagnostic report on the womans condition and make the appropriate diagnosis. Report scan findings using the recommended IT software. Be competent in the use of all the equipment in the Ultrasound department.

To use initiative in adapting techniques to optimise image quality and diagnostic yield. To contribute to the day-to-day management of the department in the absence of the department lead.
