Robert Half is partnered with a distinguished organisation to support the recruitment of their new Financial Controller, on a permanent contract.

About Our Client

Located in the heart of Gloucestershire, our client is a distinguished institution known for its blend of traditional values and modern practices. The organisation prides itself on fostering a nurturing and inclusive environment, where achievement is complemented by a strong emphasis on personal growth and development.

We are seeking a Financial Controller who can take ownership of all financial operations, providing not only day-to-day financial management but also strategic insight. This is a key role within the organisation, offering the opportunity to significantly influence business decisions and long-term strategy.

About The Role

As the Financial Controller, you will be the go-to person for all financial matters, from reporting and compliance to cash flow management and financial planning. You will work closely with senior leadership and non-finance departments, ensuring that financial insights drive operational decisions.

This is an exciting role for someone who thrives in a hands-on environment and can turn financial data into actionable business insights.

Your Responsibilities
  • Lead and mentor the finance team, ensuring smooth execution of day-to-day financial operations such as month-end and year-end reporting, payroll, and transactional finance.
  • Take ownership of monthly reporting processes, ensuring that financial results are accurate, timely, and insightful for the senior leadership team and the broader business.
  • Act as a liaison between the finance function and other business departments, promoting cross-functional collaboration and ensuring finance plays an integral role in decision-making.
  • Manage the budgeting process, working closely with department heads to prepare accurate and realistic budgets that align with the company's strategic goals.
  • Regularly track and review department spending, providing analysis and advice to non-finance teams to ensure they remain within budget.
  • Lead the forecasting process, using data-driven insights to predict future financial performance, and adjusting financial strategies as required to meet changing business needs.
  • Identify opportunities to improve cash flow by optimising operational efficiencies, reviewing payment terms with suppliers, and ensuring prompt invoicing and collection of receivables.
  • Ensure that stakeholders are kept up-to-date on financial performance, creating tailored reports and dashboards that meet their specific needs.
  • Drive improvements in financial systems and processes to increase efficiency and accuracy across the organisation.
  • Implement and optimise the use of financial software, such as Power BI, to improve the visualisation and communication of financial data.
About You
  • You are a fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA).
  • Experience in financial management, with experience in budgeting, cash flow management, and financial forecasting.
  • Proven experience managing and leading a small finance team, with the ability to mentor and develop talent.
  • Experience working with non-finance stakeholders to ensure they understand and engage with financial strategy and performance.
  • Comfortable with financial software and adept at optimising and implementing technology solutions to improve financial reporting (Power BI experience is highly desirable).
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and communicate insights in a clear and concise way to non-finance professionals.
What's On Offer
  • An opportunity to make a significant impact on the financial health and sustainability of the business, working closely with senior leadership and playing a pivotal role in shaping strategy.
  • Considerable scope for professional development and the chance to drive real change within an evolving organisation.
  • Flexible working arrangements, including the possibility of hybrid working.
  • Base salary ranging from £50,000 - £60,000 (DOE)
  • 25 days of annual leave, plus bank holidays.
  • Contributory pension scheme to support long-term savings.
  • Cycle-to-work scheme, electric car scheme, and access to in-house facilities including a gym.
