The jobholder will provide highly specialised nursing advice specific to the patient group or speciality. The post holder will be will be responsible for flow of patients into and out from the childrens hospital considering the care needs of each individual child or young person and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care Practising as an independent specialist clinical practitioner providing patient-centred and evidence-based clinical care, within an agreed scope of competence and practice.

The jobholder is responsible for the management of the flow of children in and out of the childrens hospital. The job holder will contribute to the development of the speciality service as well as contributing to the strategic direction of childrens nursing within the Trust.
The jobholder will ensure cost effective use of resources. The job holder will support the development of interdisciplinary and whole service working. As a role model they will promote the sharing of good practice and delivery of high quality, effective and efficient care.
The job holder will provide training and education to staff groups, patients and families/carers. The post holder will work in partnership with the multi-disciplinary team (MDT) to implement and improve the patient pathway and will be expected to develop new skills to further enhance the quality of the service delivered.

Where appropriate, the role will include the day to day leadership and management.
