Core responsibilities Below is an indication of responsibilities but there may be on occasions, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent uponfactors such as workload and staffing levels: a. The delivery of highly effective medical care to the entitled population b.
Generic prescribing adhering to local and national guidance c. Effective management of long-term conditions d. Processing of administration in a timely manner including referrals, repeat prescription requests and other associated administrative tasks e.
On a rotational basis, undertake telephone triage and duty doctor roles f. Accept responsibility for a specialist interest within the organisation, e.g., dermatology g. Maintain accurate clinical records in conjunction with good practice, policy and guidance h.
Contribute to the effective management of the organisation including administration, planning, strategy, BRPs etc. i. Identify, implement and embed best practice through clinical guidelines and the audit process j. Prepare and complete the revalidation process k.
Contribute to the training of medical students from all clinical disciplines Generic dutiesinclude a. The provision of services commensurate with the GMS contract b. Show leadership qualities, work collaboratively, ensure an even distribution of the organisations workload c.
Take responsibility for continuous improvement and quality initiatives within the organisation d. Accept delegated responsibility for a specific area (or areas) or the QOF e. Attend and contribute effectively to organisation meetings as required f.
Represent the organisation at ICS/ICB and regional meetings g. Contribute effectively to the development and maintenance of the organisation including clinical governance, training, financial management and HR h. Ensure compliance with the appraisal process i.
Commit to self-learning and instil an ethos of continuing professional development across the organisations team j. Remain fully focused on the strategic aims of the organisation, making recommendations to enhance income and reduce expenditure k.
Prepare and attend practice meetings contributing in a positive manner l. Review and always adhere to practice protocols and policies m. Encourage collaborative working, liaising with all staff regularly, promoting a culture of continuous improvement Other responsibilities In addition to the primary responsibilities, the GP may be requested to: a.

Participate in practice audits as requested by the audit lead b. Participate in local initiatives to enhance service delivery and patient care c. Participate in the review of significant and near-miss events applying a structuredapproach i.e., root cause analysis (RCA) d. Drive the development of enhanced services within the organisation, liaising withexternal agencies and professional organisations as required
