The Bradford Child Development Service provides services for children with neurodevelopmental problems/neurodisability including autism, school age children with significant neuro-developmental problems affecting their learning, Adoption and Children Looked After.

Clinics take place at St Luke’s Hospital Out-patients department and in Special Schools across the city.

Main duties of the job
  • Complete medical and developmental assessments of children referred to the Child Development Service and reviews of these children as necessary
  • Contribute to Educational Health Care plans as required
  • To participate in multi-disciplinary autism assessments and lead as required
  • To cover Community Paediatric colleagues in the event of sickness or to help out if the workload dictates
  • To maintain and continue multi-disciplinary team work with a multidisciplinary approach with all children who are seen in the clinics
  • To participate in fortnightly Child Development Service Educational Meetings
  • To attend monthly Child Development Service Management Team meetings
  • To participate in the rota for triage of new referrals (the postholder will not initially be part of the triage team but may provide this duty in future)

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • MBChB or equivalent medical qualification On Specialist Register with GMC and continue to hold a licence to practise MRCPCH or equivalent Paediatric CCT or equivalent, or within 6 months of AAC date.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience in management of children with developmental problems and neuordisability
  • Experience in assessment and management of children with autistic spectrum disorders
