Location: Ellesmere Port, Cheshire

Contract: Full-time, Temporary (with potential for permanent placement)

About the School:

We are thrilled to offer an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join a large secondary school in Ellesmere Port from January 2025. This role is a fantastic chance to make a real difference in the lives of students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), supporting them in overcoming challenges and reaching their full potential.

Role Overview:

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students on a 1-to-1 basis and in small groups, providing tailored support to those with a range of SEND needs, including students with challenging behaviours. You will be an integral part of the school's dedicated support team, helping to create a positive, inclusive learning environment where every student can thrive.

The role is full-time, temporary until the end of the academic year, with the possibility of becoming permanent for the right candidate. • Assist students in overcoming challenges, focusing on their individual needs and learning styles.
  • Support students with behavioural difficulties and help them develop strategies to manage their emotions.
  • Work closely with teachers to adapt learning materials and ensure all students are included in lessons.
  • Monitor and track students' progress, providing feedback to the class teacher and SENDCO.
  • Foster a supportive and nurturing environment that promotes positive behaviour and academic progress.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Previous experience working with children in any capacity, including education, youth work, residential care, or similar fields.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to manage challenging situations with confidence.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, and parents.
  • A positive and proactive attitude with a genuine passion for supporting students with SEND.
  • While a formal Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable, it is not essential.
  • A commitment to helping students achieve their full potential in a supportive and inclusive environment.

Why Join Us:

  • A supportive, welcoming school environment committed to providing the best outcomes for every student.
  • An opportunity to gain valuable experience and professional development in the SEND field.
  • The possibility of a permanent contract for the right candidate.
  • A rewarding and fulfilling role where you can make a tangible difference to students’ lives.
  • Competitive pay.
  • Opportunities for career progression within education.
