We are currently looking to recruit into vacancy in our Children’s Paediatric Critical Care Unit (PCCU)
Within Nottingham Children's Hospital (NCH) we house a 14 bedded PCCU with both intensive care and high dependency beds. We care for children under a wide range of specialities , working closely alongside the Children’s Medical Emergency Transport service for the East Midlands region.
PCCU provides an essential service for Neurology/Neurosurgical; Spinal/Orthopaedic; Oncology/Haematology; Respiratory; General Surgery and Rheumatology as well as paediatric renal services for the region. This allows staff on the unit to be actively involved with kidney transplants and hemofiltration.
We are supported by the PCCU Education Team and have a well-established foundation programme for those nurses who want to join us as newly qualified nurses.

We are happy to accept applications from both experienced and newly qualified children's nurses as well as experienced adult registered nurses that can demonstrate experience in paediatric settings. To be considered you must be willing to undertake further children's specific training and development packages.
*Pre-Pin Nurses must be qualified by Autumn 2025, to be eligible to apply*

Nottingham Children’s Hospital is set within the vibrant city of Nottingham known for its many historical sites and lively music scene. The children’s hospital is housed within the Queens medical centre campus and has 116 inpatient beds across 8 inpatient wards covering all specialities, with many of our specialities being regional centres as well as two neonatal intensive care units -one based at our City hospital campus.

Qualifications
Essential criteria- Current level one NMC registration/Pre-pin due to qualify.
- Posession of mentor course or willingness to complete
Experience
Essential criteria- Experience of delivering nursing care to a group of patients
- Supervision of non registered staff and students
- Demonstarte evidence of a link role or involvement of project work
Communication skills
Essential criteria- Demonstrates effective written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrates basic IT skills
- Awareness of own limitations and able to cummincate these
- Demonstration of team working
Analytical and Judegement
Essential criteria- Ability to assess plan deliver and prioritise care
- Demonstrate an undertsanding of the staff nurse role
- Demonstarte knowledge of current NHS issues
Physical skills
Essential criteria- Able to undertake manual handling and use medical equipment
- Evidence of moving and handling training
