High Wycombe - College Guidance Officer

• Salary: 32-34k Pro rata

The effectiveness of this role will be measured through student achievement and feedback.

Day-to-day of the role:

• Deliver the college’s Guidance Curriculum through various activities such as 1-1 appointments, tutorials, UCAS support, assemblies, and short courses.
• Plan and allocate time effectively for activities, ensuring a balanced approach to 1-1 student appointments and group sessions.
• Assist students in their preparation for post-college options, including university applications.
• Monitor the progress of students, responding to diverse needs and backgrounds, and ensuring all students have equal access to guidance services.
• Engage new students at the start of the year, emphasizing the importance of guidance and helping them understand their potential.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Experience in educational guidance or a similar role within an educational setting.
• Strong understanding of the college’s Guidance Curriculum and the ability to adapt to its evolution.
• Proven ability to keep detailed records and organize schedules effectively.
• Commitment to professional development, including completing accredited qualifications pertinent to the role.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to establish productive relationships with students, employers, and higher education institutions.
• Knowledge of safeguarding practices and commitment to promoting equal opportunities.
