College Guidance Officer

The effectiveness of this role will be measured through student achievement and feedback.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Deliver the college’s Guidance Curriculum through various activities such as 1-1 appointments, tutorials, UCAS support, assemblies, and short courses.
- Plan and allocate time effectively for activities, ensuring a balanced approach to 1-1 student appointments and group sessions.
- Assist students in their preparation for post-college options, including university applications.
- Monitor the progress of students, responding to diverse needs and backgrounds, and ensuring all students have equal access to guidance services.
- Engage new students at the start of the year, emphasizing the importance of guidance and helping them understand their potential.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience in educational guidance or a similar role within an educational setting.
- Strong understanding of the college’s Guidance Curriculum and the ability to adapt to its evolution.
- Proven ability to keep detailed records and organize schedules effectively.
- Commitment to professional development, including completing accredited qualifications pertinent to the role.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to establish productive relationships with students, employers, and higher education institutions.
- Knowledge of safeguarding practices and commitment to promoting equal opportunities.
