The post holder will work across the Northern Care Alliance and lead the NCA Learning Disabilities Acute liaison service providing highly expert knowledge and support to ensure the organisation meets its responsibilities with regard to adults, children and young people with learning disabilities, their families and /or Carers.

The post holder will provide leadership, strategic direction and assurance in accordance with the national agenda and the Trust wide Learning Disability strategy to ensure recognition and delivery of key recommendations and standards across the NCA.

  • Provide expert highly specialist advice and support across the organisation on all matters involving adults, children and young people with learning disabilities
  • provide leadership and champion the needs of adults, children and young people with learning disabilities across the Alliance.
  • Provide effective professional leadership to the wider multi agency professional teams within the organisation and influence practice throughout the Alliance to enhance service provision/delivery
  • To support all activities to ensure the organisation meets its responsibilities with regard to adults, children and young people with learning disabilities.
  • The post holder will provide leadership, strategic direction and assurance in accordance with the national agenda and the Trust wide Learning Disability strategy to ensure recognition and delivery of key recommendations and standards across the NCA.
  • The post holder will work collaboratively with professional practitioners both internally and externally to ensure the delivery of a whole systems approach for the identification and treatment of patients with learning disabilities using NCA services.
  • The post holder will work across the Northern Care Alliance and within a multi-agency arena, providing highly specialist evidence based knowledge and leadership on the issues affecting the health and wellbeing of people with learning disabilities in acute and community settings.

This vacancy is open to those who have a current NMC PIN to practice as a Registered Nurse or Midwife in the UK, or those who are currently enrolled on a course which means they expect to receive their full NMC Pin within the next 2-3 months.Please note an NMC PRN Pin is not a full NMC Pin and would not fulfil the essential criteria for this role.

The NCA can no longer accept applications from International Nurses and Midwives who are yet to complete all competencies needed to receive a full NMC PIN to practice in the UK as we have paused our OSCE programme indefinitely.
