Quality Assistant - Food Industry
Location: Southall, Head OfficeJob Type: Full-time, On-site
Salary: £28,000 Per Annum
Join our dynamic team as a Quality Assistant at our Southall Bakery & Warehouse. This role is crucial for ensuring our products are safe, legal, and exceed all agreed specifications. You will be integral to maintaining our Quality Management System (QMS) and certifications, working closely with various departments to uphold high standards.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Collaborate with Operational Teams to share information and best practices to enhance standards.
- Ensure adherence to all Quality Management System standards.
- Conduct label verifications, allergen checks, and site GMP, GHP audits.
- Perform quality checks, document verification, product inspections, and laboratory testing.
- Manage shelf-life validation checks, calibration tests on monitoring equipment, and training in food safety and quality.
- Handle administrative duties related to document control, internal and external specifications systems, and reporting on compliance metrics like plastic tax and palm oil usage.
- Support customer complaints investigations and manage the product assessment and laboratory testing schedule.
- Assist in preparing sites for third-party audits and visits and manage non-conformance closures.
- Report technical KPIs for monthly and quarterly meetings.
- Provide support during team absences and holidays.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Degree in a food-related subject, HND, or equivalent preferred.
- Certifications in Food Safety Level 2 and HACCP.
- Experience in a QA role within chilled/frozen food production, food storage, or distribution environment.
- Strong organisational skills with a flexible approach to workload.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to build strong relationships across the business.
- Good time management skills and ability to meet strict deadlines.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and IT skills for data analysis and reporting.
- Proficient in problem-solving and knowledgeable in BRCGS A&B, S&D standards.
