The Campbell Centre is a modern inpatient unit for adults. We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated nursing assistants to join the team. You need to possess an aptitude for working with people and be able to communicate to a high standard.

In your role as a Healthcare Support Worker you will be actively engaging people in Milton Keynes with acute mental health problems in practical and recovery focused support.

We offer scope for personal and professional development within a friendly and supported environment. Experience in mental health is desirable but not essential.

You will need to be prepared to work rotational shift patterns to include early, late and night shifts as these are integral to this post.

Appointees are also signed up to our internal bank which offers competitive rates and weekly pay.

Visits to the unit are encouraged.

CLINICAL DUTIES
  • Participate directly in the delivery of care to a group of patients as delegated by the nurse in charge.
  • Assist patients with daily living skills, e.g. personal hygiene, dietary needs, fluid intake etc.
  • Participate in the observation of patients as indicated in the observation and seclusion policy.
  • Report verbally to the nurse in charge any changes of behaviour, mental state, physical state and the general wellbeing of patients within the ward environment. Use own initiative to provide a safe environment
  • Record electronically or in writing as required the progress and presentation of allocated patients during a span of duty. Responsible for ensuring this activity is validated by a qualified nurse.
  • Participate as required in group therapies or activities under the supervision of a qualified nurse or occupational therapist. Organise low key activities to meet identified patient need.
  • Carry out escort duties to other departments and areas as indicated by the nurse in charge. Driving unit vehicle where application form indicates licence is held.
  • Carry out other appropriate duties within personal capabilities, as specified by a senior e.g. recording temperature, pulse and respirations.
  • Demonstrate the ability to organise and prioritise duties based on individuals presentation
  • To have an awareness of local Mental Health Service Provisions
