The Estates Maintenance Department at University Hospital’s Bristol and Weston NHS Trust has an exciting opportunity arise for an experienced Mechanical/Plumbing skilled tradesperson based in Bristol on a fixed term basis.

You’ll join an experienced and dedicated mechanical team, working as part of a larger estate’s workforce of around 100 people.
If you’re looking to expand your skills as a Plumber and move into commercial buildings – this is an ideal opportunity for you! We provide an extensive training package to support you in understanding a complex healthcare estate.
The ideal candidate will have:-- Experience of working as a domestic or commercial plumber in any setting
- A City & Guild Mechanical/Plumbing qualification at Level 3 or equivalent
- Have a desire to work in a large healthcare environment
- React promptly to day-to-day breakdowns of plumbing and mechanical equipment/assets ensuring response and completion times meet the Trust KPI’s
- Carry out wide range of mechanical & plumbing repairs
- Undertake routine maintenance (PPM) of equipment/assets ensuring all work is logged using the PDA on the Agility system to meet the Trust’s KPI’s.
- Carry out minor installation work.
- To physically carry out manual work using safe working practice
- Interpret and work from instructions, drawings and specifications appropriate to key trade, with minimal supervision
- To become certified as a competent person in a discipline within your skill set.
- Pass on knowledge to apprentices and work experience students
- Take part in out of hours on call rota.

- An attractive salary of £30,090.17 - £32,674.17 per annum basic + unsocial hours payments for evening and weekend working

Qualifications and Training
Essential criteria- You will be a qualified craftsman
- Must possess evidence of completing an approved Trade Apprenticeship
- Understanding and evidence of current Health and Safety legislation training relating to areas of work
- A current driving licence & willing to drive a Trust owned vehicle
Knowledge and Experience
Essential criteria- Experience of Building Maintenance & Installation works
- Experienced in Building fault finding
- Good all round knowledge of building
- Experience of working in Healthcare building maintenance environment or equivalent service environment
