About The Role- The post will involve, some, or all the following activities:
Assisting the student(s) with time management such as timetabling, working out a work plan for completing assignments and preparation for the exams.
Provide practical advice and guidance to the student in a non-judgemental way.
Help students organise their study and workload.
Offer guidance to enable student to find relevant resources and reading materials to enable them to meet the study/assignment expectations.
Promote independence.
To support the student by carrying books/bags, open doors, lift and carry equipment under the student’s instruction.
Offer support and encourage student to clarify their thinking and develop plans.
To provide adequate notice to the students(s) and the Disability Support Coordinator if you are unable to attend (preferably a minimum of one week).
To be able to relate to the students whom they are providing support and to work independently.
To manage their own diary to provide as much support as they are able to commit to, whilst adhering to the University’s working hour’s policies and any VISA restrictions.
To work at all times with due regard to requirements of GDPR and ensure the appropriate storage and handling of sensitive personal data, considering any student requests for confidentiality while responding appropriately to the institution’s duty of care to others.
Submit timesheets using the Connect system.Ensure there is no contact outside of the support arrangement other than for cancellation or rearrangement of appointments.
Before agreeing to undertake any additional support for a student, the Practical Support Assistant MUST inform the Disability Support Coordinator.
There may be specific tasks required in addition to those outlined above. If additional tasks are required, you will be advised by the Disability Support Coordinator.
