THE ROLE
The work undertaken by the Construction & Infrastructure team is both challenging and rewarding.
The team regularly advises on high-value transactions and also handle construction disputes, both in the UK and abroad.
The role is mainly for a non-contentious construction lawyer, 2PQE+ but with skills that might be brought into play to deal with disputes work including adjudications and arbitration.
The non-contentious work involves drafting, negotiating and advising on construction contracts on major international infrastructure and energy projects.
The work also spans construction and infrastructure projects in the UK, often for public sector clients.
The team also acts for major developers and institutional investors on real estate development work advising on construction-related matters. Many of the projects the team works on use JCT, NEC-based and FIDIC forms of contract.
They advise on contract strategy and risks, procurement and tendering, partnering and financing.
THE CANDIDATE
The ideal candidate will have:
- experience from a recognised construction team
- a firm grasp of key principles of construction law
- knowledge of the main standard forms of contract, in particular the FIDIC, JCT and NEC forms
- an excellent academic record
