The Place Independent School is for pupils with Social Emotional and Mental Health Needs (SEMH). The school opened a few years ago and we run from Year 2 to Year 13. We had ofsted in March and was granted permission to expanded further.
We are taking our time with this... we are slowly growing (so we get it right!) we will be releasing adverts to entice the right person!
We believe that all our pupils are entitled to high quality learning experiences, where we support their needs holistically. They are academically able but may be a few years behind because of missed education.
The role is for a teacher focusing on the Primary Curriculum for children for children between 7-11. We offer exceptional and diverse teaching opportunities to support our pupils and make their time at school happy and productive, creating an inclusive learning environment where everyone feels valued and respects each other. Some young people have been out of school a long time or have not been able to access education- therefore you need to be able to think creatively and out of the box. Although some of our pupils have communication needs or are neuro-divergent linked to ACEs, there is no glass ceiling and we stand proudly with this philosophy.
TLRs are available for the right candidate who is ready for the next opportunity to develop however this isn’t a necessity.
Previous experience of working with children who struggle with ASD and regulating their behaviour or have experienced trauma would be desirable however excellent teaching skills and the right motivation, personal qualities and levels of resilience are just as important.
Qualities we are looking for:
Understanding the whole child
Understanding effective behaviour management
Awareness of social and emotional development
Reflective practitioner
Have a ‘whatever it takes attitude’ to remove barriers for learning
Passionate about making a difference to some of the most vulnerable children
A team player with a sense of humour
We would love to hear from you if this sounds like an opportunity you wouldn’t want to miss! Visits to the school are encouraged.
